การจัดเรียงคำคุณศัพท์ (Order of Adjectives) ในภาษาอังกฤษมีลำดับที่เป็นสากล หากมีคำคุณศัพท์หลายคำขยายคำนามตัวเดียวกัน ให้เรียงลำดับดังนี้ครับ:
ลำดับการวางคำคุณศัพท์ (จากซ้ายไปขวา)
- Determiner: คำนำหน้าคำนาม เช่น a, an, the, this, those, my, some
- Opinion: ความเห็น เช่น beautiful, expensive, delicious, ugly
- Size: ขนาด เช่น big, small, tall, huge
- Age: อายุ/ความเก่าแก่ เช่น new, old, young, ancient
- Shape: รูปร่าง เช่น round, square, flat, oval
- Color: สี เช่น red, blue, yellowish, dark
- Origin: แหล่งกำเนิด/สัญชาติ เช่น Thai, Japanese, American, Western
- Material: วัสดุ เช่น wooden, metal, cotton, plastic
- Purpose: วัตถุประสงค์ (มักลงท้ายด้วย -ing) เช่น sleeping (bag), walking (stick)
- Noun: คำนามหลัก
